Feeling of Family Caregiver¡¯ Burden with Elder Inpatients in Geriatric Hospitals

Abstract
This study is conducted to examine feeling of family caregivers` burden with elder inpatients in geriatric hospitals. For this purpose, I surveyed 211 people looking after geriatric patients in Daegu Metropolitan City, Ghungdo and Gyeongsan-Si of Gyeongsangbuk-Do. The survey was made by means of questionnaire for 3 month from 11 september, 2006 to 05 December, 2006. The result of this study can be summarized as follows. 1) A psychological sense of burden was high 1.96 score. In psychological sense of burden, period of hospitalized, gender, age, relationship with patient were statistically significant difference. 2) A Physical sense of burden was high 1.81 score. A Physical sense of burden were statistically significant difference period of care. 3) A charge feeling of burden was high 1.64 score. In a charge feeling of burden, Age of a patient, period of hospitalized, age, educational level, relationship with patient and period of care were statistically significant difference. 4) A stress was 2.79 score. A stress were statistically significant difference an age of a patient, period of hospitalized and period of care. 5) A change of health status was 2.79 score. A change of health status were statistically significant difference an age, education level, type of occupation, relationship with patient and period of care. 6) An emotional change was 2.52 score. In emotional change, Age of a patient, age, education level, type of occupation, relationship with patient and period of care were statistically significant difference. 7) The Satisfaction for hospitalization service was 2.60 score. In the Satisfaction for hospitalization, education level, household income and relationship with patient were statistically significant difference. 8) The sense of burden of care-giver`s was 2.46 score. The sense of burden of care-giver`s, gender, age, type of occupation and relationship with patient were statistically significant difference.
